Family adventures always include at least one special thing that we want to experience or enjoy, but Grandfather Mountain surprised us with four—otters, bears, a skybridge, and the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Needless to say, everyone in the family was satisfied.

Garvie’s Point is one of the many hidden gems linked to our history. Growing up on Long Island, you are exposed to a variety of Native American Lore, revolutionary independence, and geologic marvels. One of the few places to see the evidence of Native Americans and the Age of Dinosaurs is at Garvie’sPoint.
Fall is a great time of year to enjoy a leisurely paddle down one of Long Island’s unknown rivers. Yes, you heard me, Long Island has rivers! The Peconic is the longest river on Long Island and it is almost entirely within the Central Long Island Pine Barrens (LI’s largest natural area and its last remaining wilderness).
